Sony VAIO L Series VPCL111FX

Sony 24 “all-in-one touchscreen with BluRay to price 21.5″ iMac (+ $ 100), I decided it was time to throw a mini. I think 116FX / B with Core 2 Quad CPU, but the heat / fan noise is a greater concern to use than a typical scalable CPU horsepower, so 64-bit 2.7 GHz dual-core Pentium E5400 better than me, and sysinfo show only slightly more low numbers in the model shop (CPU index for QC 7.2, 6.2 for E5400), but I could detect more heat / air from the 116FX / B. So far I am most pleased. Windows 7 is slightly better than Vista, although there are a variety of Sony software packages here more than they should be uninstalled.

They have the media manager software that is * slightly * touch better enabled, but then only Blu-Ray DVD software WinDVD which works fine but far from elegant interface as far as concerned (perhaps far 116FX / B change?). The only full multi-touch applications I found so far is the Google-Earth clone that allows you to rotate, zoom, move with gestures, and a funny Microsoft’s “Blackboard” game. If not, paint, etc work better than with the mouse, but do not expect most applications to conduct further select or simple movement with the touch screen. Hopefully some enhancements for the Microsoft Media Player, WinDVD, and other applications to make them more touch-friendly soon. Smudging will be a slight problem with the touch screen too … This unit really looks a lot better than the iMac in the kitchen for a lower profile and shiny black face, but if you buy a unit for free standing, side and back of the iMac win hands down (probably compensated by the fact that Sony has VESA mount point of the wall that can be mounted).

The wireless keyboard is also more complete and precise measures than these crazy narrow / limited keyboard that came with insanely large iMac 27 “(when I bought the Mac Mini is the opposite problem … Apple only has a crazy large keyboard to go with the Mini small). But that included a pedestrian mice without side scrolling or extra buttons (quality kbd / mouse are both so so, but they work well and that’s good how they can rest under bracket to save counter space .. if only It is also a charging dock!).’s biggest problems with this unit is the fan noise … it was just echoing from the kitchen table and wall, while the Mac mini almost as loud but muffled in the cabinet. Noise does not matter if you play music or watch a BluRay movie ( very good voice and even some bass out of the system!), but is a bit of trouble in the otherwise quiet kitchen. I suspect that the iMacs are more calm because of their use cases like giant metal heat sinks (my MacBook Pro is like an iron in my lap! ), but it is very difficult to say the situation in each store (needed a cone silent:)).

While I may prefer the look of a slot loading DVD / Blu-Ray, it is actually easier to put the disk in the tray-load given side of my fridge against the machine (also slot loader usually break more quickly and more vulnerable to damage the disc). Nice that this unit also has an HDMI input (for use as a screen) and optical audio output. Not so good is the TV tuner is not found in the 116FX modular piece that can not be added to 111FX (to go with a USB tuner if I decide to add that later).
